This model serves as a protective enclosure for extra m.2 SSDs someone may have laying around, that they want to use as thumb drives.
There is enough room for a 20x20x6mm fan to sit atop the SSD. It can be placed right on top of the m.2 slot, against the USB side of the enclosure, and secured against vibrations with closed cell foam or electrical tape.
It also features a closing mechanism that functions either by sliding it closed (across the rails), or it can be clipped closed by snapping the two pieces together. This does damage the print over time, though realistically this is something that is likely to be ‘set and forget’.
The reason for this dual mechanism is I have included enough room in the design to provide adequate cooling for faster, more power hungry drives. If someone wished to mount heatsinks and a fan to the SSD as I have, they would clip the design closed. However if they wished to use a less power hungry drive, they can just slide the device closed.
