Installing Security Cameras for a Local Business

After an incident with a belligerent individual, I wanted to help install security cameras so they can monitor both the store (Family owned and operated) in case there is ever another incident like before.

For this I plan on providing cameras that interface with an application that can be downloaded onto a phone, and be viewed by multiple people at once if necessary. This way the application can be put on the phones of the store owner, and their immediate family.

I have yet to actually see the store, but once I am there I plan on installing the Hub via Ethernet to their existing network, positioning and installing the cameras, and then routing power for them. This is the first time I’ve done something like this so its pretty exciting 🙂

Will post updates below.

I have gone ahead and visited the store. installed the cameras, and have instructed the boss and her family on how they work. Now theyll be able to view camera footage while on-site or remote, and have better uptime of coverage for the store.

Installation was a breeze, with the most difficult thing being that I had to figure out how their internet was wired. They had all the available ports on their routed filled but not all of the runs were being utilized. Im seeing the value in a Fluke even for small businesses now…

Additionally they expressed interest in buying more cameras to cover more space which is possible and very easy to set up. Hopefully I get to put up more of them soon 🙂
